Welcome

On behalf of the organizing committee, we are pleased to announce that the Osaka University Program for Leading Graduate Schools “Interactive Materials Science Cadet Program (IMSC)” will host the Interdisciplinary Symposium for Up-and-coming Materials Scientists (ISUMS), to be held at Osaka University Hall, Osaka, Japan on June 8th and 9th, 2017. The IMSC program is designed to apply the synergistic benefits of dialogic and interactive approaches to various facets of materials science education and research. In the context of the program, this symposium aims to promote communication and collaboration among researchers and students in diverse fields of materials science and to advance their research activities. This year’s symposium centers around the theme of “Research which aims to resolve global problems”, and consists of invited lectures by leading researchers in research topics such as “The environment”, “Energy”, “Material resources”, and “Health and Medicine”. Any student and young researcher in the world are very welcome to give presentations (oral or poster), hold discussions with participants including invited speakers, and obtain a wide range of perspectives to become future leaders who will resolve these problems. We hope that a lot of participants from various sectors such as universities, companies, and research institutes will join this symposium.
We look forward to seeing you in Osaka in June 2017.

Yours sincerely,
Student Chairman of ISUMS2017, Takatoshi Maeda
Chairman of ISUMS2017, Masaaki Ashida
