講演タイトル：｢Quantum plasmonics｣

要旨：Quantum plasmonics is a rapidly growing field of research that involves the study of the quantum properties of light and its interaction with matter at the nanoscale.
Here, surface plasmons – electromagnetic excitations coupled to electron charge density waves on metal-dielectric interfaces or localized on metallic nanostructures - enable the confinement of light to scales far below that of conventional optics. I will review
recent progress in the theoretical and experimental investigation of the quantum properties of surface plasmons, their role in controlling light-matter interactions at the quantum level and potential applications in quantum information science.

＜主催した先生から＞
表面プラズモンの概念自体は私も若い頃注目したことがあった。しかし今回のTame准教授の講演は驚くべきもので、前半の（昔ながらの）古典プラズモンの精密度の向上と応用範囲の拡大にも隔世の感があったのみならず、後半の量子プラズモンの自身の研究も含めた最先端研究の紹介には、遂に量子プラズモンを手に取れるようになったかと感嘆することしきりである。量子情報を実現する物性は多々あれど、この表面プラズモンは、その有力な「古参」の新参者である。今後の共同研究が楽しみである。　　（井元　信之教授）
